I hate...

...the rain today... I want my rain to have guts... to make plopping noises and really soak me. To make me laugh and run for cover...

The drizzle today is just not good enough.

HHmmmm

Very quick – as I am very very swamped today (ugh!!).

My life just gets more farcical as my good friend Babe just called me and talked me into going ‘Speed Dating’ with her… She has been travelling for a couple of years and everybody she knows apart from me appears to have become smug married people while she was away.

I finally agreed to go (hell – prince charming might be interested in speed dating, you never know). She emailed me the confirmation a couple of minutes ago and here is the bummer (or the punch line)… she has also invited MY EX!

Now if you know how speed dating works – this means basically I have to spend three minutes talking to him in front of a room of people deciding if I want to date him. Which I don’t as it happens.

Oh god.

His response when I mentioned that I didn’t realise he would be there:

‘Going in a small mixed group would be cool though - at least you know you’ve got a couple of compare-notes sessions in there!’

Is there something wrong with me… or is it everyone else?

Happy weekend

Have a lovely weekend.. I will be mainly singing bad karaoke at my friends birthday (the spice girls are so passe that they are cool now right??), doing the 'running man' in the Electic Ballroom, Canden to the Footloose sound track (post modern irony - obviously) and then recovering on Sunday in Hyde Park watching people with home made flying machines plunge into the thames. Love lovely London...

My Friend P say its going to be a heat wave too!

Oh dear

God... I'm so busy. It seems wrong that I have a job that goes so quickly from one extreme to another.... I feel like saying to everybody... Leave me alone, I fill my days in different ways now - I HAVE NO TIME TO WORK!! it is wrong that you can disrupt my day with all these things to do. I have a routine - I make coffee, I blog, I call my sister and my friend P. I go for long lunches with my friends and plan my nights out... I just can't fit my job into my day anymore.

But no... now I have to run around busily doing the things I'm paid to do (for gods sake!). As such I have not time to tell you about my karaoke humiliation, the boy I met who rides a mountain bike for a living (think of his thighs!!) and lives in a pub, or even my drunken meeting with my ex boyfriend. Sorry about that.

PS It's fair to say that despite my best efforts, the mixture of birthdays, beautiful men and bad singing meant that I remain firmly off the wagon, and its driving into the sunset without me x

Explain yourself!

Why do we pick the names we pick on these blogs? Some are very obvious, some less so and some, I think, are a complete secret known only to the blogger. As I am telling my secrets at the moment, I shall explain myself.

Legend has it that when my mother was a little girl her aunt bought her a book containing a recipe to make a fairy. My mother spend weeks collecting all of the things that she needed (all very challenging to a 7 year old I believe). Finally, all she needed to complete her spell and make her fairy was a daisy that opened at midnight. Daisys were her favourite flower because they look so sweet and friendly and she was so excited. But she found out (after a couple of trips to her garden late at night and a lot of tears) that daisys that open at midnight just don't exist...

What my mother realised was that although Daisys are pretty and sweet looking and can even make you smile, you must never ever trust them because they will let you down and break your heart... especially at night.
