Same old, same old...

Is it sad to spend your evening wearing your boyfriends worn out green jumper, eating a family bag of minstrels, watching a 2 hour documentary on the Civil War, and falling asleep so that you dribble onto the sample of the new sofa which you were inadvertently lying on?

Is this just a sign that I am getting older? Perhaps I should hit the town in stilettos, and a thong tonight. Just to prove a point... or maybe I should just give myself up to the inevitably approaching 30 and put in my order for a chair lift to get me into the bath now. After all, its not wise to grow old disgracefully is it? Look at the Spice Girls.

Hello London, I missed you.

Hello 20six, I missed you too.

Easy being green

About three months ago I was sitting in my sisters kitchen drinking too much rioja and eating wotsits, half listening to the conversation that she was having with her friend about the evils of modern food, and Jamie Oliver being a godlike man with an annoying wife. Yadda yadda yadda....

But a couple of the things that Miss Oliver II commented on started to bother me... the main one being all the hormones that are pumped into our meat to make the chickens and pigs get fat, and eaten by us in record time. Could these hormones be one of the reasons that kids today are getting fatter and maturing quicker? It makes you feel a wee bit queasy to be honest... and until it becomes acceptable to eat babies - what a waste!

So, as I travelled round Europe for five weeks eating fresh fish and pasta (and drinking too much local wine), I decided that when I got home I would go as organic as I could, without becoming a total twat.

Firstly I ordered a box of organic vegetables to be delivered to me every Friday. Its all very exciting, as the vegetables change with the seasons and I am having to learn to cook (and like) all manner of green things. The company I use is called Abel & Cole - try them - they are cool as hell.

Then I made sure that most things I bought from the supermarket were organic (especially the meat). It helped when I found:

...and of course...

...Now, I just need to have a word with my local pizza place...

Bourgeois chic.

My new cleaner came today for the first time. I felt like such a middle class twat as I showed her round my house. She was the same age as me and probably would have been quite a good drinking buddy (although her constantly calling me Miss Flower might have got a bit annoying).

I hated the idea of watching her clean my house (probably as much as she did) and so I mumbled something about a 'meeting', gave her the keys, showed her the hoover and fled.

I then found myself in the odd position of getting to Oxford Street before it opened, and having to kill some time with a coffee. When the shops finally flung open their doors I was pretty much the only shopper there, and so took great delight in pounding my credit card with necessities* for September...

...then I came home to a nice clean house, put my feet up, had a cup of tea and looked at all my pretty things.

I am so lucky. I do know.

* This is actually true. My school has a very very strict dress code (skirts only, below knee etc etc) and my slightly boho chic wardrobe doesn't measure up or down. Literally!

Oh Crap.

My friend is coming round tonight to get horribly horribly drunk with me.

I must go and buy cigarettes in preparation (for certainly they will be needed)... but oh - look at the weather.

I wish that there was a Marlborough Lights delivery service... with lovely, evil Nick O'Teen banging on your door dressed in leather.

I'll go later...
