As I just said to Laurieloo...

"Girls are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. The boys don’t want to reach for the good ones because they’re afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples that are on the ground, that aren’t as good, but easy. So the apples at the top think that there is something wrong with them, when in reality, they are amazing. That is why we just have to be a little patient and the right boy, the one who takes a chance to find the good, right apple, will come someday.... "

That's far too profound for this time of day! But I'll patiently wait for my nice and tasty good apple

The best apples are not on a tree, they are too busy having a great time and certainly don't wait to be picked! Come on little apples!!

but if you turn your mind to other things, it will come and softly sit upon your shoulder"

D, you've met Blanche, I think,

Lets just say she's probably provided you with samples, of the protein variety. (I can say no more for fear of outing her)

Its a great metaphor, and I have to confess that before now, i've been one of the 'teetering on a ladder' types (ie not wanting to fall).

Rejection is a difficult thing, becuase it does hurt - some guys have developed a kind of numbness against it, but they tend to be people you don't want picking good apples, if you see what I mean.

So, I'm sorry if you are one of the people at the top of the branches, but its scary-high up there, and I never really did like heights.. [joking!]

Keith (Showing things from the other side of the metaphor!)

It was a quote sent to me by my guardian angel to explain why I went to the cinema on my own one night. Ironically, what he didn't realise was that I really really wanted to go to the cinema on my own... I wanted to sit in a big seat and eat popcorn and then wander home and think about how every light in every house was a person.... I even dressed up!!

I love going to the cinema on my own. There's nothing worse that someone trying to talk to you during a screening. I also love eating out alone, you can eat as much as you like and read a book at the table, which is normally considered very bad manners.
We must get together before you do depart, I'll by you a farewell glass of champers over the road xx
