Reasons I love having a (new) job.
Meeting a whole new bunch of people who are potential friends Getting new free stuff like a computer and lots of (pink) stationary Getting to wear my best work clothes (even though my red, pink and orange stilettos are hurting like hell today… Said stilettos being worn with black trouser suit and pink top for the more fashionably discerning among you) Waking up when its dark and putting my makeup on in bed while watching dire morning TV Making my office my own little Daisy-World (I have bought pink roses and a vase already to sit in it) Getting to be the new and exciting person in the office for a while and having lots of people stopping by my desk to meet me. Finding a new little London sandwich shop down a secret London road (until now you really didn’t know this road existed and yet has thriving DIY shops and Newsagents and a pub, dry cleaners, hairdresser etc etc – there are literally HUNDREDS of these secret roads in London). Aiming to buy my toast and sandwiches from the exciting (often Italian run) shop to support local business and then accidentally going to Pret anyway for sushi and a chocolate croissant. Knowing that at the end of the week I can go and buy the beautiful white coat (no, not that kind of white coat) I’ve wanted for ages to wear in New York at New Year! Getting to plan my party on Saturday while looking busy and important (I have accidentally now got about 50 people coming as I keep asking people and they keep saying yes… my house is not THAT big… perhaps they won’t all turn up… anyway - I wish I didn’t have a cold). Going home to curl up on the sofa with mashed potato and toad in the hole with my flatmate – safe in the knowledge that I have actually earned it!!!
