On the phone now...
Mother: Just calling to tell you that I have invited Daisy for Christmas
Daisy: Mother... I AM Daisy
Mother: Not you silly, the other one!!
Daisy: What other one?
Mother: You know...
Daisy: No I don't!! We don't know anyone else called Daisy...
Mother: Yes we do! Anyway at least I'm bringing someone... where's your boyfriend hey? Or your sisters? Or your brothers? What will become of us all? We're doomed!
Daisy: What?? Is this secret-other-Daisy your partner now? What about dad? More to the point... what the hell are you talking about?
Mother: I'm talking about the fact that you don't have a boyfriend and your 27, your sister doesn't and she's 31 and as for your brother he's...
Daisy: 35... I know mother I know...
Mother: I don't know what's wrong with you all...
Daisy: I blame the parents
Mother: Be careful darling... not long now until you turn into me... then who will date you?
Daisy: Oh god...

(9.12.03 16:17) You read my mind, Daisy. Neither my brother nor I are married, and while the folks don't give us a hard time about it, it DOES mean that we have to go through things your average adult has said goodbye to long before: this year, we are having a - urgh - family portrait taken. I cannot believe it! This would NEVER happen if I was married with sprogs!! |

(9.12.03 16:18) What is it with parents and the fact they want you to bring some person with you to the house on xmas day - but only when they know there is no one important to bring! I had a boyf a couple of years ago during xmas,he wasn't allowed to come, but now that there is no one i get the classic "Awww, I'm sure you will meet someone soon" by my parents friends ect. Thank god they don't know anyone young enought to try and fix me up with!! Have a sweetie

(9.12.03 16:20) It's strange how parents can make any conversation comeback to their favourite topic... |
|
(9.12.03 16:22) Ok, now I'm getting scared, I'm only young, I can't face a life of parental intrusion... Does it really never end? I always figured I was home and dry the day I leave home :-( |
|
(9.12.03 16:29) They want to know when you are going to reproduce little Daisy's so that they can play with them for an hour and then hand them back. |
|
Daisy (9.12.03 16:31) To the nanny I assume? |
|
(9.12.03 16:39) Well, if you can afford one darling, then of course. You wouldn't fancy financing an au pair for me? |
|
Daisy (9.12.03 16:45) Swedish I assume? |
|
(9.12.03 17:02) Parents! Oddly enough my Mum called earlier to see if I was in tonight. Obviously not!! (Hectic Chrimbo social calendar!) Seems they cant wait to get rid, but then struggle when you do! Hey ho! Cheers Ref (Anyone 'Blinks'ing on Friday?) |
|
Daisy (9.12.03 17:12) Can't blink on friday - too hectic for words over December... Have fun though..x |
|
(9.12.03 22:15) Helloooo Daisy, just wanted to say that pic of Supergirl you have in the top left corner is ultra cool! =) |
|
(10.12.03 09:22) I think you just have to put your foot down at the very start. When I first started going out with my ex, I said that Christmas Day was always going to be just us and his brother and girlfriend (now wife); then on Boxing Day we'd visit parents. My parents never liked that much, and every year they'd try and persuade me, but I think they've got the message that I don't particularly enjoy Christmas at home. Unfortunately I have no such excuse now, and Christmas is going to be my worst nightmare! |
|
Daisy (14.2.04 21:22) She invited me!! Kiss my ass! |
