Funny Ha ha.
On my pay slip it suggests that I work a 27 hour week. So, that would be almost 6 hours a day.
So far this week I have worked for 45 hours (I've been on an over night trip to Belgium which lasted 6am Monday morning until 9pm last night).
Does this mean I can have next week off, do you think???
Also, as I start work normally at 8.30, does this mean I can leave at 2.30, even though there is an hour and thirty five minutes of school left?

(7.12.05 12:04) woah! that sucks. so, wait, do you only get paid for 27 hours then? that's nothing! you'll starve! that is really disgusting. or is it just a mistake this week? |
(7.12.05 12:07) No - I'm always paid the same - they just base it on my week being 27 hours... Thats practically part time and deeply untrue!! |
(7.12.05 12:14) Yes, I think so, just take it, they'll not mind.... |
(7.12.05 12:15) and it doesn't take into account marking or lesson planning or, like this week, overnight trips. you're very brave you know, i couldn't do it. |
(7.12.05 12:17) Yeah, but the holidays make up for it. |
(7.12.05 12:19) Holidays could never make up for losing that much time on a payslip. |
(7.12.05 12:23) To be honest I'm amazed every time I hear a new teacher complain about the hours they are working. Is it not common knowledge that teachers work long hours? It can't really come as a shock, can it? |
(7.12.05 12:28) Duh. I'm not complaining. I love my job. The hours are no longer at all than any of the other jobs I ever had. I loved going on holiday with 60 15 year olds and staying in a youth hostel - I actually did. My gripe is that at least my investment bank had the balls to admit that I worled a 50 odd hour week... and made me sign something to say that i waived my right to an EU wokring times thingy. |
(7.12.05 12:29) Duh. Okay. |
(7.12.05 13:35) Staying in a hostel with 60 15 year olds - better you than me! |
(7.12.05 13:46) It's not as horrid as it sounds. Really. Apart from when they set the smoke alarms off! |
